Cedarwood is a community of families committed to constructing an educational experience for children that values each as a community member and whole person, builds upon their individual interests and curiosities, and nurtures their intellectual and social growth.
Our educational goal at Cedarwood is to maintain a balance between the grade-level academics of traditional schooling, and progressive methods such as project-based learning, mixed-age community building, and exploring the natural world. Our methods recognize developmental readiness and allows each child to progress at their own individual pace. We also build into our curriculum enrichment activities such as foreign language, music, art, and field trips.
At Cedarwood we believe being outdoors is not only therapeutic, but is important for personal intellectual and social development. Our children work, play, and discover in our large outdoor classroom. We recognize the value of unstructured, mixed-age play for our children, and the critical role it plays in healthy development. Accordingly, unstructured play is interwoven with structured learning time on a daily basis.
We pledge to admit students of any race, color, national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students of the school. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in administration of our educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs (if any), and athletic or other school-administered programs.
