Our Programs
At Cedarwood Academy, our outdoor classrooms and indoor spaces serve as a preschool and an independent private school for children ages 5 and over, and a unique environment for enrichment activities.
Curricula for all of our programs are discovery-based and consistent with the best developmentally appropriate practices defined by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, with a growing age span each year.
Programs for 3-and 4-year-old Children
(with a Focus on Nature and Holistic Development)
Mondays -Tuesdays, Wednesdays -Thursdays- Fridays
9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
The goal of our programs for 3- and 4-year-olds is to provide children with opportunities to creatively explore developmentally appropriate arts, science, language, and mathematics by painting, gluing, building, engaging in a variety of games, learning songs, dancing and reading books. The most exciting part of the program is that the children are exposed to all of the classes that older children undertake and are included when they show interest. Our classes are primarily held outdoors, in our forest classroom space.

At Cedarwood Academy, our outdoor classroom and indoor spaces serve as a preschool, an independent private school for children ages 5 and over, and a unique environment for enrichment activities. Curricula for all of our programs are discovery-based, consistent with the best developmentally appropriate practices defined by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and on grade-level for traditional schooling. Our current community includes children between the ages of 2-12, with a growing age span each year.
After School ↗
All classes are offered after the main school program is over. Each class length is an academic hour of 50 minutes. The classes begin at 3:05 and end at 3:55. Children are expected to be picked up by 4:00 to avoid late charges.
All children attending afterschool classes are required to sign a behavior contract. The class facilitators will provide their contracts before classes begin. Not following through with the contract will result in loosing a spot in the class. Afterschool classes are interest-based projects. If a child needs to do something else as opposed to participate in the class, there is no point in having them be in class as they unnecessarily take time away from others while struggling.
Camps ↗
Summer camp at Cedarwood Academy is a unique outdoor experience full of backyard summer fun in the natural world. Participants can look forward to hands-on activities, forest and water play, arts and crafts, and a variety of learning experiences. Daily activities may include: water play (balloons/sprinklers, small pools), STEM activities, sports, bike riding, painting/sculpting, cooking and more.
We require all interested families to come for a visit with the child before making their enrollment decision.
